About Nicholas Velasquez

I am a Buffalo, New York based multidisciplinary designer with a foundation in game design and interactive media. My work sits at the intersection of gameplay systems, visual storytelling, and digital production. While my primary focus is game design, I operate comfortably across graphic design, web design, 3D modeling, and animation, which allows me to approach projects from both a creative and technical perspective.

As a generalist, I value understanding the full production pipeline. From concept and system design to asset creation and implementation, I enjoy bridging multiple disciplines to bring ideas to life. My background in game design remains the core of my skillset, guiding how I think about mechanics, user experience, and player engagement, even when working in adjacent fields like web or visual design.

I believe in building work that is thoughtful, polished, and purposeful. Whether developing interactive experiences or crafting digital content, I aim to leave a lasting positive impact through discipline, integrity, and attention to detail.

College Experience

I graduated from Villa Maria College with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Game Design on Saturday, May 17th, 2025. During my time in the program, I developed a strong foundation in gameplay systems, level design, 3D modeling, and interactive storytelling. Working in collaborative studio environments strengthened my ability to communicate ideas clearly, iterate based on feedback, and deliver polished results under deadlines.

My senior thesis project, Eidetic, challenged me to explore narrative-driven design through the lens of memory and identity. Through this experience, I refined my technical skills in Unreal Engine and Maya while deepening my understanding of how design choices affect player emotion and engagement.

Personal Mission

My mission as a designer is simple: create experiences that are meaningful and genuinely enjoyable. I believe great design is built on honesty, discipline, and respect for everyone. This includes collaborators, clients, and players/users who invest their time in what we create.

I strive to be a dependable professional and a lifelong learner. Whether developing games, building digital products, or crafting visual assets, my goal is always the same: bring ideas to life with integrity and create work that people can connect with and remember.
